Based on my current role in supporting high school teachers of special education students with literacy needs, I explored professional development needs, collaborative practices, as well as tools and strategies that could be used to support learners with understanding the information that they take in through increasingly digital formats.
I first conducted action research about professional development needs with my high school special education teachers. I chose this topic to research as I was also exploring best practices around digital comprehension. This research served as a way to begin exploring how I could best support teachers in updating and expanding their current practices. Ultimately, my findings will be incorporated into professional learning opportunities within my district. Challenges that were considered :
